Catalytic combustion of VOC or CO2 is used in a wide range of applications. For example, with the help of hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2) can be burned at high temperatures to a synthetic fuel methane (CH4) - as a second step in the "power-to-gas" process. (In the "power-to-gas" process, excess electricity is used to produce hydrogen (H2) by electrolysis. If hydrogen is then converted into synthetic methane with carbon dioxide, excess energy from wind turbines, etc., can be stored.)
